Once a Topps competitor, prior to being acquired by them in the mid 1950’s, the Bowman brand is now Topps home for cards of Major League Baseball prospects in their major league uniforms. The Bowman 1st is always one of the most sought after cards of a player and they can be valued as much or more than their flagship rookie card.
They release 3 ‘main’ sets each year using the brand (these are where you can find the 1st Bowmans): Bowman, Bowman Chrome and Bowman Draft. They also have a number of alternate product lines that mirror some of those that Topps releases like Sapphire Chrome, Bowman Heritage, Bowman’s Best (similar to Topps Finest), and this year they also came out with a Transcendent version of Bowman for the high end collector.
Topps has even started using the brand to release some on-demand products similar to their NOW line, dubbed Bowman Next. So far these have highlighted prospect performances in the Arizona Fall League and a number of prospects that were included in 2020 Major League Summer Camps.
