Many collectors submit their cards to a plethora of different companies for authentication and grading, and/or to have their collections protected within slabs. Some of the more famous and high valued cards in the industry are almost impossible to sell at reasonable value, unless they’ve gone through the authentication/grading process.
Collectors choose to support and trust many different companies with their collections. Most will base their decision on financial aspects such as accuracy, cost, and resale value, while those that just want their personal collection protected will go with the slab they feel looks the best.
PSA is hands down the most used grading company at this time, turning around over a million cards each month at this time.
The four current major grading companies are listed below, with more information about each on their respective pages. We will highlight some of the smaller grading companies in the near future.
